At the age of 12, I began helping my grandfather. He had suffered a stroke and was unable to look after himself due to his extreme weakness. This is a common part of Asian culture, in which the younger generations take care of their elders. It was this experience that helped me begin my path to owning a home care business.
I started nursing school when I was 19 years old and graduated with a degree in licensed practical nursing three years later. After I received my degree, I found work providing care in homes for the elderly, offices, and other institutional settings. It was fulfilling work, and I took great pride in helping others stay independent.
I enjoyed working as a bedside nurse, however, I temporarily left the position so I could be a stay-at-home parent to my two children. During my time away from a career, I maintained work as a private duty caregiver for families on an as-needed basis. I was unaware of the great demand for in-home care until multiple families approached me with requests for help. This has sparked a strong ambition in me to pursue entrepreneurship in the home care sector.
I followed my passion for helping those in need by focusing on starting a full service in-home care agency, Care With Dignity. I have seen firsthand how much compassionate care can positively affect the lives of those wishing to age in place or recovering from an injury or illness. I am passionate about providing quality care and making sure that everyone is treated with dignity and respect. I believe that everyone deserves to be able to age in place or recover from an illness or injury in the comfort of their own home.
